I went on the recommendation of a friend. I should have read the reviews first. I had the combo. The sausage was great. The french bread was way to soft and the beef was something that I would pass on. I guess I was suppose to cover it with mozzarella cheese and peppers. The mug of root beer was worth the trip. Would be great on a hot day. The fries were very good. Not greasy or over cooked. On Wednesday they have all you can eat mostaccioli and meat balls for $5.95. No specials, everything is on the side. So you can run up the bill at this burger joint. The place was empty at 12:05 am on a Thursday? I would like to try the burger next time. I will come back in the summer for the car shows or just to have a car hop come to the window.

I saw this place on a "Drive-Ins, Diners & Dives" on Food Network yesterday. Since I was in the city today, I decided to take a field trip and visit this place. This is the last place in Chicagoland (the show may have said in Illinois as a whole) that still has carhops. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, they have an old car show for you to check out some cool old cars. The food here is fairly standard diner fare - burgers, italian beef, ice cream, deep fried mushrooms. The burgers are good, as are the italian beef sandwich (I heard that from the person I was with). They sell a few different Nesbitt's pop in glass bottles in their cooler. One of the draws to this restaurant is their Belly Buster ice cream sundae; I don't know how big it is, but it costs $17.99 plus tax. The best thing about this place, though, is their root beer. They make their own root beer in the basement of the restaurant, and it comes out on tap. It's the best root beer I've ever tasted; far better than the standard A&W or Mug rootbeer. If you're ever in the neighborhood, it's a fun, friendly place to give a try!
